GUIDELINES

There are a number of indicators for the winners of each race and, by following the codes for a race, you will be able to match up names, numbers and colours to produce a short list. The number and name are the most important factors, followed by colour. A convergence of name, number and colour indicates a higher probability the horse will run well.

The codes are alphabetical and the most important influence in the combination always precedes the following influences. Order of significance follows, but anything in brackets is of equal influence to anything else in brackets. For example CA,(GI) indicates that C is most important and the characteristics 5, 14, blue, grey, as well as a horse's name such as "Matty's Girl" (refer to tables). You may not need to use all the indicators to arrive at a selection. Use the strongest indicators first, then more if needed.

These astrological indicators form a guide to winners and can be used in conjunction with your form guide. However, if there is a clear indicator that is not at short odds you should carefully consider including this horse in your bets, especiallly when the indicator 'H' is involved. Often, horses at long odds come in under the auspices of influences indicated by 'H'.

There are associations that can be made with names, and guides to help you determine whether a horse's name fits the description as indicated by the code for a race. Samples of names appear under "Simple Names" and "Combination Names".

The numbers refer to the numbers carried by the horses, not their barrier draw.

The colours refer to those of the jockey's silks.

Sometimes an outstanding name demands the inclusion of a horse in the selection process, without consideration of number or colour. Sometimes it's hard to match anything up and, this is where the colours can produce some wonderful results.
