The Patriarchal Ages The following data represents the tip of the metaphorical iceberg, opening up a world of possibilities with ancient texts. There is common history and similar thought patterns amongst the ancient peoples, evidence of which is reflected through similar mythological and religious stories. The following evidence for encoded astronomical knowledge within the Genesis stories was not an isolated occurrence and is linked with similar processes in ancient Egypt. Considering their geographical and historical location this is not surprising. Within one of the most valued books of history, the Bible, is encoded astronomical measurements. Biblical history was originally passed down by word of mouth from generation to generation, in an oral tradition to preserve both history and knowledge. This was of particular importance to their religious leaders who determined their very complex calendar. One of the most obvious pieces of information derived from this source is from the ages of the patriarchs themselves. ![]() |

From Adam to Noah, the total of their ages is equal to 8,575 years, equating exactly to one third of the precessional cycle of 25,725 years as estimated by modern scientists. Therefore, from their ages, could be remembered the length of this cycle and the Vernal Point's rate of travel. For example, the cycle of 25,725 years can be related to a complete circle of 360 degrees. As the ages of the patriarchs equal one third of the total amount, this figure relates to 120 degrees. Thus they both relate to a precessional movement of 71.458 years per degree. The cubed roots of their total age, total life span subsequent to the birth of an heir and the total ages at birth of their heir gives the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction cycle and the value of the cubit, the Metonic cycle, and Jupiter's orbital period respectively. Whilst the first patriarchal grouping contains coding of data related to the precessional cycle, the second patriarchal grouping from Shem to Abraham is specifically associated with the lunar cycles, making possible the integration of the lunar and solar calendars and the prediction of eclipses. It is clear that the Hebrews obtained their information from the ancient Egyptians, with evidence of this fact to be found in this table of information. The Egyptians not only had three seasons, Semut, Akhet and Proyet, but a similar division of the month into three decans of ten days each. Thus this one third figure was also important in their lunar cycle and the synchronisation of the solar and lunar calendars, which we know today as the synodic month (measured from new moon to new moon). Applying this pattern of thought to the second patriarchal grouping of total ages, the resulting figure approximates closely to the tropical, sidereal, anomalistic and draconic months, with the latter of these being the closest. The total of these patriarch's lives subsequent to the births of their heirs (column 2) equals 100 anomalistic months. The cubed root of this figure equals half a lunar cycle or fortnight, being the time it takes for the moon to traverse 180 degrees of zodiac. The final figure in this second grouping involves the total of patriarchs' ages at the time their heirs were born (column 1). This figure divided by the length of the Saros cycle produces the value of the draconic or nodical month. ![]() Isaac and Jacob represent the transition to the twelve tribes of Israel which can be related to the twelve zodiacal constellations. Jacob, as father of the twelve tribes of Israel can be associated with the Sun which, in Astrology, gives life to the twelve signs of the zodiac as it passes through them annually. Jacob's affiliation with the Sun is endorsed by the length of his life which is the measurement between the earth and the sun, as measured in millions of kilometres. Isaac, the father of Jacob, links the immediately preceding ten patriarchs who are associated with lunar information, with that representing the sun, his son Jacob. The information about Isaac's life have to do with the interplay between the Sun, Earth and Moon, as his data emphasises the fractions 2/3 and 1/3, both of which play an important role in the determination of the proportionate amounts of influence the Moon and Sun have on the precession. Isaac's life lasted 180 years, living 120 years after the birth of his son and dying 27 years before his son. Even the 1/3 mark or 120 degrees of arc indicates the positioning of each succedent eclipse in the same Saros series, in respect to the earth. The number 27 is obviously related to the lunar months, most notably the draconic month whish is associated with eclipses.
