In the current era, the sun is set against the backdrop of the constellation of Pisces during March 15 and April 14.The sun sign is indicative of the manner in which the individual finds expression, for it is the source of the life force. The solar energies absorb and reflect the characteristics of the sign in which the sun finds itself: and the individual born at this time of the year will find that, at heart, he or she embodies Piscean traits. The other two most important personal factors within the birth chart are the Ascendant and Moon. If either of these are positioned within the Pisces field of influence, then the individual will also find that he or she reflects Piscean traits, as would anyone with Neptune significantly placed in their chart.

Pisces is symbolised by two fish joined together by a band, yet swimming in different directions. There is much that can be derived from this symbolism which accurately describes the characteristics of the Piscean individual. Water, the substance which holds life for this species, has always been associated with new life and the emotions. The Pisces person has a fluidity and adaptability that is natural to the new born child. The great sensitivity of their nature evokes both a tremendous awareness and susceptibility to the environment. Pisces’ feelings play an important part in their life and colour their whole perspective. So, as with the new born child, Pisces is impressionable: sensitive to hurts, the vibrations and colours of the world around them, the feelings of fellow human beings and to the suggestions of more powerful individuals.

Unfortunately some Piscean individuals, through negative influences in their lives, come to manifest some of the more difficult personality traits of this sign. Because of the naiveté that is common in Piscean people, they are easily influenced by others. This brings confusion and misunderstanding, leading to doubts about oneself and one's capabilities. Over-emotionalism also brings unnecessary anxiety and indecisiveness. These qualities may also be accompanied by a distrust of the world because of the hurts that have been endured. In the positive sense, the Pisces individual is very aware of the needs and feelings of others, and they possess the qualities of compassion, understanding and love.

The Piscean individual obviously possesses strong intuition, along with a dominating sense of spirituality in their makeup. Psychometry, clairaudience, clairvoyance, telepathy and mediumistic abilities are common in Piscean individuals. Those with the positive characteristics ingrained in their personality will strive to bring peace, idealism and love into the lives of those around them. This manifests in a variety of forms: doctors, nurses, musicians, artists and entertainers can be found doing their best to promote these ideals. The negative manifestations involve a vulnerability to psychic phenomenon, delusions and hallucinations. All Pisceans tend to fantasise: some more so than others. There is nothing wrong with this habit so long as it is not carried to the extreme. However, some individuals become so wrapped up in their illusionary world that all sense of reality is lost. This usually arises when their sensitivity has been so damaged, they choose to retreat into the sanctity of an imaginary world.

To dream is important. Without idealism and visions, progress would halt. Dreams are the inspirations of the poets, musicians, artists and writers of this world who have brought beauty and splendour into the lives of many. Even in one's darkest moments, the works of these inspired individuals will bring light and hope. To a certain extent, all Piscean individuals have artistic talent. In some, it lies untapped and dormant. In others it is used in a variety ways from handicraft to music, photography to entertainment. Art, in all its forms, is an expression of the creative nature of man and easily utilised by Pisces.

Great works of art are usually precipitated by emotional turmoil and the Pisces individual is very good at internalising pain, along with many other things. Secretiveness is a part of their nature, helping to protect their vulnerable points. Often there is a fear of ridicule through lack of self esteem and confidence. The recuperative power of the Piscean is generally weak. It is therefore important for this individual to take adequate care of their health. Diet and hygiene are two very important factors that should be carefully watched. Problems may arise through food additives, food poisoning, alcoholism, smoking and chemicals. Piscean feet may also give rise for concern, along with glandular and immune deficiency problems.
